Here you will be able to inform others of your happenings, career changes, etc. You may include a photo along with your article. You may submit articles anytime as we will post them when they are received. This will allow for more timely news rather than quarterly as the previous version. Lori Massman, Scholastic Employee Services/Community Development Manager (LJC Class of 2006) was selected to participate in the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industries “2011 Missouri Leadership Class.”
The goal is to prepare our participants to take an active role in advancing the state for the common good. By fostering understanding of how the state’s issues are interconnected, and by forging new relationships among community and regional leaders, Leadership Missouri graduates bring a fresh and informed perspective to their communities and companies, serving as important participants in the unified effort to shape Missouri’s future.
Through a series of seven monthly, two-day sessions, held in various locations in the state, participants are educated about the state of Missouri and its challenges. They meet and talk with Missouri’s current leaders and through field trips, panel discussions, presentations and experiences, explore the state’s opportunities, needs and resources. Leadership Missouri provides a thought-provoking experience focusing on the attributes of the state, and what it means to be a leader. By visiting various regions, participants develop an enhanced view and a new meaning to the word community that spans the entire state.
Characteristics of successful applicants are:
- Commitment, motivation and interest to the serve the state.
- Demonstrated voluntary leadership in community affairs.
- Willingness to seek future key volunteer and/or appointed leadership roles.
- Commitment to play a personal role in helping to shape Missouri’s future
Brenda Myers (LJC 1994) joins Columbia College
Columbia College recently announced three new hires in its marketing department. One of which will be filled by Brenda Myers. Myers will serve as the director of marketing strategy. Myers comes to the director of marketing strategy position with previous management, implementation and communication experience. Most recently, Myers worked for the Special Learning Center in Jefferson City and also has provided consultation to a number of clients in central Missouri through her business, Myers Communications. In her position as director of marketing strategy, Brenda will work with campus marketing teams and oversee planning and implementation of marketing strategies in all Columbia College markets.

Valerie Moersch (LJC 2008), public relations & development coordinator, from Missouri River Regional Library, was recently awarded the 2010 Downtown Jefferson City, Inc. "Member of the Year" award.

Steve Houser (LJC 2010) selected to Chamber Board
Steve Houser, Hawthorn Bank, was recently installed as a new board member for the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and will serve a one-year term as the 2010 Leadership Jefferson City class representative.

Amy Coffey (LJC 2008) joins Jefferson Bank as Assistant Branch Manager
As the Assistant Branch Manager at Jefferson Bank East Amy's duty is to recruit new business and individual customers as well as opening new accounts and cross selling bank services.
Sarah Stroesser (LJC 2008) wedding on November 13, 2010
On November 13, Sarah Stroesser will be marring Matt Alsager at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City, MO.
Deric Heislen, (LJC 2008) appointed to the University of Central Missouri Board of Directors
Lieutenant Deric Heislen, Jefferson City Police Department, LJC Class of 2008, was recently appointed to the University Of Central Missouri Board Of Directors for a 3-year term beginning January 2010 and ending in 2013. The UCM Board of Directors works to promote UCM and to keep the Alumni connected to the University. The UCM Alumni Association embraces the mission of Central Missouri and strives to advance the interests of the university by providing a partnership between alumni and the administration, faculty, staff, students and friends, and by providing a medium through which alumni can stay connected to the university and contribute to its ongoing success. Congratulations to Deric for this prestigious appointment!

Tina Potter (LJC 2007) Joins The Networks of Mid-Missouri: ABC17/Fox22/MyZouTv/Stormtrack24/7
The Networks brought Tina Potter on recently to head up their Jefferson City Sales office. Tina brings with her 15 years of Consultative Sales & Marketing Experience which aligns well with the TV Station’s marketing growth objectives and goals in Jefferson City. Tina is an member Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, a 2007 Leadership Jefferson City Graduate and has applied for membership to The Missouri Broadcaster’s Association. She supports various charities in the community; Tina is a Program Leader for The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Association, supports March of Dimes and has served as a Team Captain for Relay for Life Team for the past few years raise funds for The American Cancer Society.

Ken Theroff, (LJC 1991) named head of Commercial Lending Department of Jefferson Bank
Executive Vice President of Jefferson Bank, was named head of the Commercial Lending Department in July of 2009. Ken’s office is located at 700 Southwest Boulevard in the Lending Center. He is the current Secretary of the Special Learning Center Foundation Board, on the St. Mary’s Health Center Board of Directors, the St. Peter’s Foundation Board, Jefferson City Downtown Rotary Club, and the Missouri Bankers Association Education Trustees. He and his wife live in rural Cole County with their three daughters.
