In 2017, the Chamber made a commitment to create a strategic plan for membership recruitment and retention, leading to improved member relations and member engagement. The Board dedicated two retreats to this topic and assigned a task force to concentrate on four R’s of membership: Recruitment, Retention, Revenue, and ROI. Many volunteers were involved in the process and developed a membership strategic plan that will be implemented early summer of this year. The first phase of this plan will include one-on-one visits with new Chamber members, establishing a mentor-type program that will eventually lead to more personal visits with existing Chamber members as well.
The Chamber was pleased to bring in membership expert and strategist Shari Pash, Strategic Solutions for Growth, to work with our Board at their Fall Retreat in 2017, and to hold training sessions for volunteers and staff on May 2nd. Her knowledge of the membership world (in chambers and associations) and her passion for assisting organizations improve their membership relations made for some great sessions. Shari offered valuable tools and strategies that can be easily implemented and her enthusiasm was contagious.
Leslie Tanner, Central Bank, chairs the Member Recruitment Team, and Jason Cecil, The Missouri Bar, leads the Retention Team. The volunteers on these teams are instrumental to the successful implementation of the new membership strategic plan and the Chamber is very grateful for their dedication to this task.
