"Dreams" Gala celebrates Chamber leaders, volunteers, accomplishments

The Chamber’s 124th Annual Gala “Dreams” held January 27 honored community leaders and celebrated our community “Dreams” for projects like riverfront access at Adrian’s Island, access to MSP for entertainment and tourism, the completion of Lafayette Interchange, construction of the University Wellness and Rec Center, the Boys & Girls Club and plans for the Special Olympics Missouri Training for Life Campus. The Gala was attended by over 720 people.
Outgoing Chairman Dan Westhues, Central Bank, was honored for his leadership and recognized for his role in the success of the Chamber over the past year. 2017 Chamber Chair, Janet Weckenborg, Capital Region Medical Center, outlined her goals for the Chamber in the upcoming year to continue to forge partnerships resulting in economic growth and workforce development.
The festivities continued with recognition of retiring officers, board members and other Chamber volunteers for their service to the Chamber and the community. Retiring board members: Ann Bax, United Way of Central Missouri; Darren Heckman, High 5 Communications; Rob Kingsbury, Farmer Companies; Alan Mudd, Associated Real Estate; Chris Schrimpf, Hawthorn Bank; Jeremy Winegar, Midwest Block and Brick; Mark Kaiser, State of Missouri Representative; Carl Sweezer, Leadership Jefferson City Class Representative; Jason Cecil, Jefferson City Young Professionals Representative
Retiring officers: Bill Plank, Naught-Naught Insurance, Treasurer 2016; Gregg Bexten, Hawthorn Bank, Chairman Emeritus 2016
There are many outstanding businesses in this community whose contributions over the years have made it a wonderful place to work and live. Several businesses were recognized for celebrating “milestone anniversaries” Cole County Health Department 100 years; KWOS News Radio 80 years; Vogel Insurance 70 years; Jefferson Bank of Missouri 50 years; RMI 50 years; C&S Business Services 40 years.
