Chamber’s “Rock this Town” Annual Gala celebrates Chamber leaders, volunteers, accomplishments

The Chamber’s 126th Annual Gala “Rock this Town” held January 25th honoring community leaders was attended by about 700 people. Special recognition was given to Mrs. B.J. DeLong for her financial gift to complete the Bicentennial Bridge to Adrian’s Island that will include a museum and riverfront park near the State Capitol.
In addition to recognition and awards, the program included special entertainment for the “Rock this Town” theme that featured a tribute to community business leaders by local musician and business owner, Will West from Will West Music & Sound.
Outgoing Chairman, Bill Plank was honored for his leadership and recognized for his role in the success of the Chamber over the past year. 2019 Chamber Chair, David Minton, outlined his goals for the Chamber in the upcoming year to continue to forge partnerships resulting in economic growth. Top projects include the redevelopment of the Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP), the development of a Port on the Missouri River in the Algoa area near the MO National Guard and the construction of the Bicentennial Bridge to Adrian’s Island to a riverfront park near the State Capitol.
The festivities continued with recognition of retiring officers, board members and other Chamber volunteers for their service to the Chamber and the community. Retiring board members include Morgan Fechtel, Fechtel Beverage; Kathleen Graessle, Williams-Keepers LLC; Nathan Hays, Jefferson City AutoPlex; Chip Webb, Ameren Missouri; Holly Nunn, Young Professionals Representative; Chad Stieferman, Leadership Jefferson City Representative.
Retiring officers: Darren Heckman, High 5 Communications, Treasurer 2018 and Janet Weckenborg, Capital Region Medical Center, Chairman Emeritus 2018.
There are many outstanding businesses in this community whose contributions over the years have made it a wonderful place to work and live. Several businesses were recognized for celebrating “milestone anniversaries” Jefferson City Board of Realtors, 75 Years; Fischer Body Shop, 40 Years.
Congratulations to the award recipients: Holly Nunn, Fast Forward Award; Nathan Hays, Chairman’s Award, Lori Massman, Chamber Meritorious Civic Service Award and Nancy Gratz, William W. Quigg Leadership Award.
