Mayor proclaims April Chamber Grow JCMO month

Mayor Carrie Tergin has proclaimed April 2016 to be Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce “GrowJCMO!” month. 

The proclamation was made April 6 at the Chamber Membership Meeting attended by over 100 Chamber members.  Volunteers for the Mission Possible: #GrowJCMO campaign joined her on the stage.

 

Mayor Tergin noted in her proclamation that the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce 

  • has contributed to the civic and economic life of our community for 123 years since it was founded in 1893 to build a bridge across the Missouri River to create commerce,
  • mission today is to continue that leadership role to promote economic growth in Jefferson City, Cole County and for its 800 member businesses and organizations
  • staff works to attract new business and industry to locate in the area such as the Special Olympics Missouri Training for Life Center and Continental Commercial Products manufacturer, creating hundreds of jobs and and millions of dollars in capital investment
  • staff works to expand existing industries and businesses such as Unilever, Scholastic, Wipro Infocrossing, in addition to the support of entrepreneurship and new business start-ups within the community
  • provides business networking opportunities resulting in a 80% increase in likelihood for consumer spending and a 68%  increase in exposure and local reputation.
  • and its 1,800 members provide leadership and support to community organizations and to education through over 50 business education partnerships and youth leadership award programs
  • is the catalyst for economic growth and the liaison between the State of Missouri, City and County governments, schools and the business community to drive economic growth in our area, serving its mission to “#GrowJCMO” 

Therefore, I, Mayor Carrie Tergin of the City of Jefferson, proclaim April, 2016 as

“GrowJCMO” month by the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce membership consists of over 800 member firms.  It provides many services for small businesses which represent 70% of its membership.  The Chamber serves as the key liaison between State, City and County government, schools and business.

"The Chamber of Commerce will continue its mission to serve our members and provide our community a strong business environment that increases employment, retail trade and commerce, and industrial growth in order to make the Jefferson City area be a better place to live," said Randy Allen, President/CEO.
