A new “Membership Support Team” was created in 2017 in response to the 2016 Mission Possible membership campaign in which personal visits were made to more than 500 Chamber members.
The individual visits were very positive and provided a great deal of insight into what members view the Chamber is doing successfully and identified areas within membership (especially regarding benefits and “return on investment”) needing improvement. The Board reviewed the member comments and survey results and created the support team to address the following areas: Recruitment, Retention, ROI (benefits), and Revenue (specifically non-dues revenue).
Darren Heckman, Treasurer-Elect, High Five Communications, serves as chair of the steering committee. The Action Teams Chairs are Leslie Tanner, Central Bank (Recruitment); Jason Cecil, Missouri Bar Association (Retention); Spencer Allen, St. Joseph Cathedral School (ROI); and Jason Schwartz, Hawthorn Bank (Revenue).
The Recruitment Action Team is known as The Chamber Champions and meets monthly to share leads and prospects. The individuals work on their own time to recruit new members. The Retention Action Team has nearly completed a new retention strategic plan which will be ready for implementation this fall. The ROI Team has reviewed all the comments and surveys from Mission Possible and has identified a list of benefits most requested by members and is working on a plan to create and introduce those benefits to the membership. The Revenue Action Team meets monthly and is evaluating each non-dues revenue event. Nearly 50 Chamber members serve on the action teams which are meeting independently and will convene as a whole in the fall. This group of volunteers is critical to the success of the Membership Support Team. The Chamber appreciates the focus on membership.
