Taking the next step - Start Up Jefferson City Published: Friday, June 15, 2012 8:00 am By: Shaun Sappenfield
You have a business idea. Maybe you even have a simple business plan. Now you want to take the next step. What do you do? How do you start the process of moving from concept to reality?
Well, one solid way is to connect with business professionals who can provide you with the knowledge to move your idea forward. Ideas are plentiful, but moving the “idea” ball off center is probably the biggest obstacle for any would-be entrepreneur.
Those challenges are now being overcome, thanks to StartUp Jeff City. This unique grassroots initiative of local entrepreneurs held its “Collaboration” session on May 19th at Lincoln University’s South Campus Conference Center. It was the 2nd session of a 4-part progressive series of informal and helpful support meetings for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Jefferson City area.
The Collaboration session offered participants an opportunity to connect with business experts in various fields ranging from finance, human resources, insurance, legal and marketing. In all, nine separate areas of expertise were represented at the event.
“The main objective of this session is to offer a ‘one stop shop’ for entrepreneurs to talk with experienced entrepreneurs and experts,” said Mike Honeywell, an entrepreneur himself -- and a Chamber member who is spearheading the Start Up Jeff City movement. The StartUp Jeff City team worked hard to arrange such a diverse group of business experts, and all our hard work paid off.”
